Templates in Sitecore CDP

Today I am going to explain about different types of templates that are available in Sitecore CDP.

In Sitecore CDP you can create templates for web experiences or experiments, real-time audiences, offers as well as decisions.

Technical users are the person who is responsible for creating the templates and business users or marketers can use those templates, eliminating the need to write or edit any code. The library will contain all the templates that the business users or marketers can use to reduce the time to market for the experiences or experiments.

There are mainly 4 types of templates in Sitecore CDP named Web, Audience, Decision, and Offer. Let's discuss each of them.

Web templates - Web templates help marketers and business users to create web experiences or experiments without the need to code.

When technical users create a Web template, they have full control over HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and FreeMarker for API. Web templates are mainly used for adding components on the page like alert bars, pop-ups, email capture bars, Notification bars, etc.

Technical team members create the Web templates and the business users and marketers can focus on the design, content, and overall user experience of the component. Sitecore CDP comes with some OOTB templates that can also be used by marketers and business users.

Note: When a Web template is published only then it is available in Web Experiences and Experiments for use.

Audience templates - Audience templates are used for defining the segment of the audience that your organization wants to target for experiences or experiments.

A real-time audience enables the organization to use a guest's real-time session behavior and information to determine whether to run an experience or not. You can segment audiences like first-time visitors, a visitor from a particular country, visitors who purchased an item, etc.

Technical team members create an Audience template that is completely based on JavaScript and it is used to serve the real-time audience. A business user or marketer has to just select the Audience template based on the audience they want to target when building an experience or experiment.

A technical user can configure a form to display for marketers or business users to further define the attributes of the real-time audience so that they do not have to write, edit, or view code.

Note: When an Audience template is published only then it is available in Web Experiences and Experiments for use.

Decision templates - Decision templates are programmable decisions that technical teams configure and make available to business users and marketers on the decision palette. Then these Decision templates can be used by business users and markets to create decisions to use in experiments or experiences without writing any code. A business user or marketer can simply drag and drop a Decision template from the palette on the decision canvas.

Decision models are for experiments or experiences that require more complex logic. Decision models can use guest data, knowledge sources, external systems, and decision tables for determining the output of the experience or experiment.

Technical teams can optionally create a form for the Decision template. When the marketer or business user adds the Decision template to the decision canvas, the form displays for the marketer or business user to complete. This enables them to configure decision logic without having to write or edit code.

Offer templates - An offer is a marketing message that contains some information that can be presented to a guest in multiple channels. You can use an Offer template to create offers. An Offer template defines a structured data format that Sitecore CDP recognizes as an offer in experiments, experiences, and decision models.
